Our Maple Sugar Crumbles are a result of our maple sugar screening process. When the sugar is still warm, portions of the maple sugar tend to clump together. We collect these “clumps”, and offer them to you as a fun treat. Use pure, Sweet Fire Maple Sugar Crumbles in your next baking recipe or substitute for processed sugar! Sugars naturally rank high on the glycemic index, however, maple syrup is clearly the better option as it has a lower glycemic index than table sugar. Real Maple Syrup has a glycemic index of 54 vs table sugar of 65. Also, real Maple Syrup has significantly more calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, copper, and manganese than brown sugar.
Maple sugar is made when the sap from our sugar maple trees is boiled for a longer period of time than it takes to make maple syrup. When nearly all of the water has been boiled away, the remnants left are a solid sugar. This is maple sugar.
